BiographyTwenty five years as both an author and psychotherapist in private practice in Manhattan and Westchester, Ms. Mason has lectured widely and written a national column on addictions and nutrition, and authored numerous articles. She has lectured and taught widely for Continuing Medical Education credits, most recently at Hunter College in NY. As a survivor, herself of numerous trauma , not the least of which was witnessing her husband's swan dive from their bedroom balcony in Manhattan and creator of several unique treatment modalities, some of which are in this work, she also mans pro buono hotlines for both suicide survivors and trauma survivors. Ms. Mason ran the medical department at the National Council on Alcoholism National Headquarters for 8 years and co-founded and ran a prestigious medical scientific journal as well as a medical textbook, producing 6 volumes a year for those 8 years. She has worked with the most famous victim of the original World Trade bombing who appeared on the front pages of the New York newspapers for a year after the event, and many of the survivors of the 9/11 attack, some who watched their colleagues jump from the towers and another who crawled over bodies of her colleagues to escape, barely, with her own life several of whom have appeared on Dateline and 20/20. Her own extraordinary trauma and their personal stories, told in her office, are the inspiration for this work. The most damaging aspect of trauma is the resulting flashback(s). Her technique, outlined in this work takes 5 minutes and one sitting. She has adapted it so that friend, family member, neighbor as well as professionals can administer it, and ultimately, teaches the reader how to do it themselves. She is the creator and originator of a unique body/mind talk therapy in psychotherapy, as well as adaptor of the technique outlined in this work. Ms. Mason cofounded and ran a million dollar corporation before entering the helping profession. A writer, painter and singer, she also coaches artists on how to achieve their visionary goals. |
